The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will soon hold three online meetings that directly impact Liberty Utilities customers in our region. As visitation continues to rise and our year-round population declines, proposed rate changes risk placing a disproportionate burden on permanent residents.
These meetings will address:
- How different customer types are classified (“rate classification”)
- Whether a new Residential Demand Fee will be adopted
TAHOE SPARK will present our Destination Visitor Induced Demand (DVID) Fee proposal—an innovative congestion pricing model designed to fund peak-demand infrastructure and essential services through a public utility framework. Our goal is simple: ensure that costs are shared equitably between residents and visitors, and that our community remains resilient, safe, and inclusive.
Liberty is not our only option. We believe in a future where wildfire risk is mitigated, infrastructure is strengthened, and everyone—residents, visitors, and businesses alike—contributes their fair share.
Let’s work together toward a balanced solution that reflects the needs and values of our region.
Join us at the CPUC meetings and help shape the future of Tahoe.
Warm regards, Danielle Hughes Tahoe Spark
